Studio international, an illustrated art periodical begun in London in 1893 and issued for artists, designers and collectors, reproducing contemporary painting, printmaking and applied design. The plates run to soft tonal reproductions of etchings, lithographs and mezzotints — bare winter branches, cypress and poplar groves, cattle in snow-covered yards, allegorical nudes — offering grainy grey washes, silhouetted twig structure and heavy plate borders.
