An introduction to the study of Gothic architecture
A handbook on Gothic architecture by the Oxford antiquary and publisher John Henry Parker, issued in London by J. Parker in 1900 for students, clergy and amateur church-visitors learning to date English medieval buildings. The 189 wood-engraved plates show windows, arcades, doorways, capitals, mouldings and tracery in clean outline with hatched shading and measured section profiles beneath, giving designers a stock of architectural silhouettes, repeating quatrefoil and lancet motifs, and diagram-style line ornament.
