Lettres sur l'Italie en 1785
Charles-Marguerite-Jean-Baptiste Mercier Dupaty's letters on his 1785 journey through Italy, printed in 1788 with a Rome imprint and sold in Paris by de Senne, addressed to French readers following the country's art and antiquities. The 54 pictures are small letterpress ornaments rather than views: woodcut tailpieces and headpieces showing fluted baskets and cartouches filled with leaves and blossoms, scrolled acanthus frames, knotted olive sprays and hatched hearts, usable as section dividers, spot motifs and rule ends.
