Browne Willis's three-volume antiquarian survey of the English and Welsh cathedrals, printed in London and Dublin in 1742 for clergy, genealogists and church antiquaries. Engraved ground plans of cathedrals with lettered chapels and shaded piers sit alongside woodcut headpieces of scrolling acanthus, seated putti, eagles and flower baskets, useful as measured architectural diagrams and as horizontal ornament bands.
