Browne Willis's three-volume survey of the English and Welsh cathedrals, printed in London for Thomas Osborne in 1742 for antiquaries, clergy and subscribers to county history. The pictures here are letterpress tailpiece ornaments cut in wood: symmetrical urns and pedestals wrapped in acanthus scrolls, hung with flower swags, topped by eagles or doves, some with a woman's face set in the cartouche.
