Survey of London
A volume of the Survey of London, the parish-by-parish architectural record begun in 1900 by the London County Council with the London Survey Committee, compiled for antiquarians, planners and conservation officers. Plates are plain halftone photographs of Georgian street fronts — pedimented doorcases, fanlights, wrought-iron gates and railings — supplying accurate period detail and a grey documentary tone for reuse.
