Symbola et emblemata
An emblem compendium published by Henricus Wetstein in Amsterdam in 1705, drawing on Daniel de la Feuille's collections of ancient and modern devices, with plates engraved by Joseph Mulder for readers assembling mottoes and personal imprese. Each page holds six numbered roundels in sparse line engraving—a bee, a stag, an hourglass, a lily, a squirrel and lion, an eagle over a tree, cupids, a lobster, a hanging balance—set on small mounds of hatched ground, ready to lift as spot motifs, seals, or medallion marks.
