Tables of ancient coins, weights and measures, explain'd and exemplify'd in several dissertations
John Arbuthnot's Tables of ancient coins, weights and measures, printed by J. Tonson in London in 1727 for scholars comparing classical currencies and units. The plates here are printers' ornaments cut on wood: tailpieces of flower baskets flanked by scrolling acanthus and paired long-tailed birds, useful as symmetrical headpieces, dividers or frame corners at small sizes.
