The telegraph in American and Morse memorial
James D. Reid's 1886 history of American telegraphy and memorial to Samuel Morse, printed for the author in New York for operators, investors, and telegraph company men. Most plates are wood-engraved head-and-shoulders portraits of bearded and mustached businessmen in dark coats and bow ties, cut with dense crosshatching on plain grounds, alongside apparatus and line-construction views.
