The temple of Bîgeh
An archaeological site report on the Ptolemaic-Roman temple on Bigeh Island in Nubia, written by Egyptologist Aylward M. Blackman for the Egyptian Antiquities Service and published in Cairo by the Institut français d'archéologie orientale in 1915 for scholars recording monuments before the Aswan Dam floods. The plates are halftone photographs of carved piers, column drums, ruined walls and relief panels of offering scenes and hieroglyphic columns, shot in hard sunlight with deep black shadows that cut the stone into flat graphic shapes.
