Theatrum stultorum joco-serium, sive, Mundus fatuus emblematicè expressus
A Latin emblem book of 1669, Jan de Leenheer's joco-serious "theatre of fools," printed in Brussels by M. Van Bossuyt for Latin-reading clergy and schoolmen. The plates here are printers' ornament rather than emblem scenes: repeating fleuron bands built from cast leaf-and-bud units, a triangular tailpiece of scrolling foliage, and a small woodcut basket of flowers, usable as rules, dividers and chapter endings.
