Cacace, Giovanni Battista, Perrey, Nicolas, 17th cent · 1650 · Neapoli : Robertus Mollus typographus excudebat · 113 pictures

A Latin account of the 1649 ceremonies reopening studies at the Neapolitan academy under the Spanish viceroy Iñigo de Guevara, count of Oñate, written by Giovanni Battista Cacace with engravings by Nicolas Perrey and printed in Naples by Roberto Mollo in 1650 for the court and university audience. Engraved emblem scenes sit inside heavy strapwork frames built from pilasters, volutes, bearded masks and fruit swags, while the letterpress pages carry woodcut headpieces of grotesque heads, flower baskets and perched birds usable as borders, ornaments and mask motifs.
