The eighteen nineties; a review of art and ideas at the close of the nineteenth century
Holbrook Jackson's 1922 critical survey of British art and letters in the 1890s, issued in New York by Alfred A. Knopf for general readers and collectors of the period. Plates reproduce Beardsley-school pen drawings, Kelmscott-style decorated pages with woodcut borders and initials, and lithographic caricature portraits, offering black-mass silhouettes, dotted and hatched textures, floral border strips and ornamental title panels.
