Thesaurus rei antiquariae huberrimus ex antiquis tam numismatum quam marmorum inscriptionibus pari diligentia qua fide conquisitus, et in locos communes distributus ..
A Latin reference compilation of ancient coin and marble inscriptions assembled by Hubert Goltzius and printed by Christophe Plantin at Antwerp in 1579 for antiquarians and humanist scholars. The pictures here are the printing shop's furniture rather than the subject matter: woodcut headpieces with cornucopias, dolphins and a haloed figure over a shield, foliate initials built from vines and blossoms, and cast-metal tailpiece ornaments of scrolling arabesques usable as borders, drop caps and section dividers.
