The third annual exhibition held at the Carnegie Institute, November third, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, till January first, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine

Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh · 1898 · Pittsburgh, Carnegie Art Galleries · 30 pictures

Catalogue for the third annual exhibition of paintings at the Carnegie Art Galleries in Pittsburgh, held November 1898 to January 1899, issued for exhibition visitors and buyers. The thirty halftone plates reproduce oil paintings in soft grey tones — coastal and harbour views, wooded pastures with grazing cattle, and lamplit interior scenes with figures — useful as muted tonal backgrounds, atmospheric landscape stock, and examples of turn-of-century halftone grain.
