An English translation of Leonardo da Vinci's notebook aphorisms on art, life, and science, edited by Maurice Baring and Lewis Einstein and printed in 1906 by D. B. Updike's Merrymount Press in Boston for collectors of fine printing. The chapter openings use vermilion initial letters set inside ribboned laurel wreaths with interlacing scrollwork, giving designers a two-colour decorated alphabet and repeatable square ornament frames.
