Time and its measurement
A 1909 Chicago treatise by James Arthur, a Scottish-American engineer and clock collector, setting out the history and mechanics of timekeeping for general and technical readers. Line drawings of watch dials with Arabic-script and 24-hour numerals sit alongside halftone photographs of lantern clocks, exposed gear trains, and geared demonstration models, giving designers circular chapter-ring layouts, numeral sets, hand silhouettes, and toothed-wheel forms.
