Time telling through the ages
A popular history of clocks, watches and timekeeping written by Harry Chase Brearley and published in 1919 by Doubleday, Page for the New York watch firm Robert H. Ingersoll & Bro., aimed at general readers and customers. The plates are soft-focus halftones of wash drawings showing crowds at obelisks and sundials, robed figures on temple steps, and men bent over tables by candlelight, useful for low-contrast tonal atmosphere, silhouetted groups and night-lit interiors.
