An archaeological survey of Pompeii's streets, buildings, and decoration, written by William Gell and John P. Gandy with plates engraved by John Pye, John Walker and others, published in London in 1821 for antiquarians, architects and travellers. The steel and copper engravings give wide views of excavated streets and colonnades in fine grey line, plus measured plans, column capitals, wall-painting motifs and mosaic borders that supply Roman ornament and ruin scenery.
