Tops, a new American industry; a study in the development of the American worsted manufacture. The Arlington mills
A promotional trade monograph issued by the Arlington Mills of Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1898, printed at the Riverside Press in Cambridge, tracing worsted top manufacture for mill owners, buyers, and the wool trade. The plates here are printer's ornaments in pen-and-ink line: symmetrical scroll tailpieces, stippled and hatched fills, a horned ram's head set in strapwork, and fleur-de-lis finials suited to headers, rules, and monogram frames.
