A French edition of Leonardo da Vinci's treatise on painting, translated by Roland Fréart de Chambray and printed by Pierre-François Giffart in Paris in 1716 for painters and drawing students. Outline engravings show nude figures standing, pointing and leaning, overlaid with projection lines and lettered geometry, plus small woodcut diagrams of vaults, columns and cast shadows.
