Transactions of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a technical society's annual proceedings issued from Montreal beginning in 1895 for mining engineers, metallurgists and mine managers. The plates are coarse-screen halftone photographs of smelter and mine surface works \u2014 tall brick stacks, low sheds, drifting steam \u2014 seen across cleared land littered with stumps, useful for grainy industrial-landscape texture and silhouettes.
