Proceedings of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers, issued at Newcastle-upon-Tyne from 1852 for colliery managers and engineers who read technical papers on coal winning and machinery. The plates are fine-line engineering drawings: sectioned branch pipes and curved castings, ventilation and shaft plans, hatched coal seams, timbering grids, each figure labelled and carried on its own inch-and-foot scale bar.
