Transactions of the Shropshire Archaeological and Natural History Society
Annual transactions of a county antiquarian and natural history society, published at Shrewsbury from 1878 for members recording Shropshire excavations, church monuments and local natural history. The plates here are high-contrast photographic reproductions of inscribed stones and incised slabs, reduced to blotted black marks on bare paper — useful as ready-made grunge textures, eroded letterforms and abstract mark-making.
