Transactions of the Shropshire Archaeological and Natural History Society
An annual volume of Transactions issued in 1904 by the Shropshire Archaeological and Natural History Society in Shrewsbury, gathering local excavation reports, pedigrees and county notes for its subscribing members. The plates are grey photographs of impressed marks on lead and clay slabs, arranged in numbered grids: crude initials, crosses, lettering and scrolled borders, useful as raw texture, stamped-letter forms and ready-made catalogue layouts.
