Transcendental magic, its doctrine and ritual,

Levi, Eliphas, 1810-1875 · 1910 · Chicago, de Laurence, Scott & co. · 4 pictures

Eliphas Lévi's 1856 French treatise on ceremonial magic, issued in this English translation by de Laurence, Scott & Co. of Chicago in 1910 for occult students and practitioners. Wood-engraved diagrams and plates supply pentagrams inscribed with Hebrew letters, sigils and spirit signatures, ruled geometric figures, and a tarot trump showing a crowned charioteer above two sphinxes — ready-made esoteric line ornament.
