Trattato della pittura e scultura, uso et abuso loro
A 1652 Florentine treatise on the use and abuse of painting and sculpture, written by the Jesuit Giovanni Domenico Ottonelli with Pietro da Cortona and printed by Giovanni Antonio Bonardi for clergy and artists debating religious images. The plates here are woodcut initial letters set in foliage, with birds, grotesque beasts and small figures; usable as drop caps, spot ornaments or period-texture motifs.
