The travels of Théophile Gautier
An English translation of Théophile Gautier's travel writings, edited by Frederick C. de Sumichrast and issued in Boston by Little, Brown in 1912 for American readers of continental literature. The plates are coarse-grained halftone views of hillside towns, tiled roofs, river valleys and palm-set ruins, printed in grey-black ink, useful for textured landscape backdrops, distant skylines and period travel-photograph grain; endpapers carry repeated UCLA library monogram stamps.
