Travels through Spain, in the years 1775 and 1776. In which several monuments of Roman and Moorish architecture are illustrated by accurate drawings taken on the spot

Swinburne, Henry, 1743-1803 · 1779 · London P. Elmsly · 11 pictures

Henry Swinburne's account of his 1775–76 journey through Spain, published in London in 1779 for British readers interested in antiquities, with engraved plates of Roman and Moorish buildings drawn on site. The plates give elevations, interiors and ground plans in fine line engraving — horseshoe arches, studded doors, carved arabesque panels, ranks of columns under groin vaults, and hatched survey plans with a compass rose — usable as architectural ornament, arch motifs and diagram line work.
