A Protestant theological treatise by the Scottish minister John Weemes, printed in London by Thomas Cotes for the bookseller John Bellamie in 1636 as the fourth volume of his collected works, addressed to divines and lay readers arguing against atheism, idolatry, witchcraft and Judaism. The plates are printers' ornaments rather than subject illustrations: horizontal woodcut headpiece bands of scrolling foliage flanking a crown, triangular scrollwork tailpieces, and blocky foliate initials usable as borders, dividers and drop caps.
