A treatise on the construction of staircases and handrails ... Preceded by some necessary problems in practical geometry; with the sections and coverings of prismatic solids
Peter Nicholson's 1820 London manual, published by J. Taylor, teaching carpenters and joiners the geometry needed to lay out staircases, handrails, and the sections and coverings of prismatic solids. The engraved plates are fine-line constructions in black on cream: volute spirals struck from circles, ruled fans of projection lines, developed curved rail segments, and numbered tangent points usable as line-art diagrams or pattern sources.
