A treatise on embroidery, crochet and knitting ..
An 1899 needlework manual issued by M. Heminway & Sons Silk Co. of New York, written by George C. Perkins and Anna Grayson Ford to sell the firm's silk thread to home embroiderers, crocheters and knitters. The engravings show stitch samples close up: rosettes of looped and crosshatched bands, openwork crochet medallions, scalloped lace edgings and knotted fringes, all rendered as dense black line on cream paper and usable as rosettes, borders and repeating textures.
