Treatise on the great art : a system of physics according to Hermetic philosophy and theory and practice of the Magisterium
An 1898 Boston translation of Antoine-Joseph Pernety's eighteenth-century French treatise on alchemy, issued by the Occult Publishing Company for readers of Hermetic and occult literature. The plates are reprinted woodcut emblems: circular medallions holding a face-bearing sun, crescent moon, planetary and elemental sigils, a winged bird on a mound above a strapped chest, and a tree ringed by zodiac roundels—usable as line-dense symbol stock.
