A treatise on lace-making, embroidery, and needle-work with Irish flax threads
An 1892 instructional treatise on lace-making, embroidery and needlework by Mary E. Bradford, issued in New York by the Barbour Brothers Company as part of its Prize Needle-Work Series to promote Irish flax threads to home needleworkers. The plates are photographs of finished lace laid on black grounds, showing handkerchief corners, doily borders and square mats in crochet, tatting and needlepoint lace, giving designers white filigree motifs, scalloped edgings and repeating floral medallions that read clearly as silhouettes.
