A treatise on painting
An English edition of Leonardo da Vinci's notes on painting, printed in London for I. and J. Taylor's Architectural Library in 1796 as a practical manual for art students and painters. The plates are spare outline engravings of nude male figures standing, striding, throwing a spear and posed on plinths, with muscles and plumb lines drawn as thin contour, useful as clean figure templates and proportion diagrams.
