Trieste
A volume on Trieste by Giulio Caprin, published in 1906 by the Istituto italiano d'arti grafiche in Bergamo as part of its illustrated series on Italian cities and their art, written for Italian readers and travellers. The plates are halftone photographs: medieval frescoes in arched niches with painted ornament borders, a mosaic apse above an altar rail, carved capitals, and wide harbour and street views, useful for ecclesiastical interior details, romanesque ornament bands, and grainy tonal cityscapes.
