[Trims and edgings
A textile manufacturer's sample book of embroidered trims and edgings, issued about 1875 without imprint, compiled as a trade catalogue for wholesale buyers and now held by the Clark Art Institute Library. Pages carry strips of machine-embroidered banding pasted in rows beside handwritten pattern and color numbers, each floral or geometric repeat shown in red, navy, pink, blue and violet on cream ground, giving designers ready repeating borders, color variants of one motif, and ledger-style page layouts.
