A trio of eighteenth century French engravers of portraits in miniature. Ficquet, Savart, Grateloup
William Loring Andrews's 1899 collector's study, published in New York by Dodd, Mead, surveys three eighteenth-century French miniature portrait engravers—Ficquet, Savart and Grateloup—for bibliophiles and print connoisseurs. Plates reproduce small oval bust portraits in ruled and beaded frames, set on plinths with garlands, drapery, books and blank cartouches, giving designers ready-made medallion surrounds and empty label panels.
