True stories of great American men : for young Americans
A collection of short biographies of American statesmen, soldiers and inventors written by Elbridge S. Brooks for young readers, published in Chicago, Philadelphia and Toronto by J.C. Winston in 1898. The halftone plates show bayonet charges, mounted officers, riverboats and men in open boats, drawn in loose wash with torn, vignetted edges that fade into the page, useful as ready-made irregular picture shapes and grey-toned action scenes.
