Turf in caricature.
Turf in Caricature, a portfolio of pen-and-ink racing caricatures drawn by Jesse Sylvester Anderson and issued under his own imprint in 1900, aimed at American racegoers who knew the jockeys by sight. Each plate sets an outsized portrait head on a small galloping horse, drawn in loose crosshatch with blank ground and a few scribbled rails, trees and dust clouds.
