The Twentieth century pattern book for Norwegian lace and embroidery

Silljan, Elsie H · 1908 · Kristiania, Norway : Printed by Grøndahl & Son · 13 pictures

A pattern book of Norwegian lace and drawn-thread embroidery compiled by Elsie H. Silljan and printed in Kristiania by Grøndahl & Son in 1908, made for needleworkers copying Hardanger and cutwork designs. The plates are halftone photographs of finished square mats and doilies against black or pale grounds, showing stepped scalloped edges, grids of cut squares, and diamond blocks that read as high-contrast geometric tile and border patterns.
