Twine crochet work
An instruction manual for crochet worked in twine, written by Marie Louise Kerzman and published in Brooklyn by H. Bristow in 1883 for home needleworkers making trimmings and household edgings. The plates are dense wood-engraved views of finished lace bands—looped mesh grounds, scalloped shell rows and long knotted fringe—usable as repeating border strips, textured fills, or hatched patterns for rules and frames.
