Two children of the foothills
A 1911 Chicago volume by kindergarten educator Elizabeth Harrison, issued by Central Publishing Co. for teachers and mothers working in the Froebel tradition, and carrying reproductions of German Mother-Play verse plates. The illustrations are dense black-line woodcuts in which a framed panel of blackletter verse sits inside a landscape of tall trees, iris stalks, village steeples, streams and small figures of women and children at play.
