Two letters on the origin, antiquity, and history, of Norman tiles, stained with armorial bearings
Two antiquarian letters on medieval Norman armorial tiles, written by Baron Henniker and the Marquess Townshend and printed in London by John Bell in 1794 for heraldry scholars and collectors. Plates show numbered shields in stippled brown ink — fleurs-de-lis, lions rampant, crosslets, stars, cinquefoils — plus a crowned seated figure, useful as heraldic charges and stipple textures.
