The two paths; being lectures on art, and its application to decoration and manufacture, delivered in 1858-9
John Ruskin's five public lectures of 1858-59 on art applied to decoration and manufacture, reissued in 1891 by John Wiley in New York for general readers and design students. The plates are pen-and-ink teaching diagrams: a fan-shaped panel of stiff conventionalized flowers, a wide-eyed Celtic manuscript figure drawn in flat outline with dotted borders, and loose sketches of foliage carved on cornices and capitals, useful as line ornament and comparative figure drawing.
