Typfarben auf Baumwolle : gedruckt und geätzt = Standard colours on cotton : printed and discharged
A bilingual German-English shade card issued by I.G. Farbenindustrie in Frankfurt am Main around 1900, showing standard dyes printed and discharge-printed on cotton for textile printers, dyers and colourists. Each plate is a rectangular cloth swatch carrying the same abstract pattern of looping white lines, rings, dots and diamonds against grounds of red, orange, black and other flat colours, giving designers a ready set of one-colour repeat motifs with visible woven texture and colourway comparisons.
