Typus occasionis : in quo receptae commoda, neglectae verò incommoda, personato schemate proponuntur
A Latin emblem book on seizing or neglecting Occasion, drawn and engraved by Theodoor Galle with Karel van Mallery and published at Antwerp in 1603 for learned Catholic readers of Jan David's moral writings. The copperplates set stocky figures in slashed doublets among winged angels, horned and scaled demons, and cloud-borne apparitions, each element tagged with a key letter and sometimes a lettered banderole, giving designers fine-line cross-hatched skies, allegorical attributes, and diagram-like labelled scenes.
