An 1822 antiquarian study by C. P. Lepsius, published in Naumburg, on the age and founders of Naumburg Cathedral and the donor statues in its west choir, written for German historians and church antiquaries. The plates are fine outline engravings of standing Gothic figures in niches, noblemen with heraldic shields and swords and crowned women in long mantles, giving designers clean contour drawings of medieval dress, drapery folds, coats of arms and inscribed shield lettering.
