A German-language art-historical monograph by Konrad Escher on Swiss wall and ceiling painting from the ninth to the early sixteenth century, issued by Heitz in Strasburg in 1906 for scholars and museum readers. The plates are hand-drawn tracings of painted ornament and figures: blunt brush-like acanthus borders, thin scrolling tendrils with small leaves and beaded edging, and sparse pen profiles of hooded heads, all black on blank ground and easy to lift as spot motifs or rules.
