Urbis patavinae inscriptiones sacrae, et prophanae ...
A Latin antiquarian survey of the sacred and secular inscriptions of Padua, compiled by Giacomo Filippo Tomasini and printed at Padua in 1701 for scholars of epigraphy and local history. The plates here are letterpress ornament rather than subject matter: grotesque masks with scrolling foliate horns used as headpieces and tailpieces, and square woodcut initials set with a flower inside a ring, offering reusable borders, corner leaf motifs, and drop caps in coarse black line.
